About This Event

The Tradition of the Salvation Army Christmas Kettles started in 1891 in San Francisco when the Corps Officer, Captain Joseph McFee, wanted to provide a free Christmas Dinner to the area’s poor and used a crab-pot at the Oakland Ferry Terminal to collect cash donations to pay for the meal. It was so successful that when the Captain was transferred to another corps, he took the concept with him, and The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle was born.

This year, your local Chapter of the Salvation Army will be bell ringing throughout downtown November 13, 14, and 15. Consider making a donation and supporting vital programs for local women and children. Help us kick off the Holiday Season as we fill the air with the sound of bells.
