WHO: How many artists do you know that get flown across the country to spend a month in one of the art capitols of the USA – all expenses paid? We know very, very few. Ric just got back from an artist residency at the prestigious Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
MORE: This isn’t the first time Ric had been in Santa Fe – he also exhibited there as a part of the museum tour that accompanied his first book Rattlebone. Ric is one of the most important visual artists in our region and he continues to earn the title Local Legend with each and every one of these accomplishments.
MORE: Ric created some inspired artwork during his residency. See it for the first time anywhere this First Friday. Ric will be present and excited to answer your questions about the experience.
WHAT ELSE: We’ll also show work by Legendary Painter Alfredo Arreguin and Sculptor/Professor Emeritus Ruben Trejo (both have work in The Smithsonian), along with Michael Dinning, Whitworth art professors Gordon Wilson and Rob Fifield, Bend painter/teacher Ken Roth, arts hero Karen Mobley and local favorite Melissa Cole.
WHEN: First Friday, April 5th, 5-8pm.
WHERE: First Friday in Kendall Yards happens throughout the Kendall Yards Business District, but has always been centered at Marmot Art Space (1202 Summit Pkwy, in Adams Alley, right across the alley from Craftsman Cellars and 3Ninjas).
WHY ATTEND: It’s another amazing art party in Kendall Yards! This is the best night of each month, a great opportunity to get out of the house and visit with your neighbors in Spokane’s most exciting neighborhood. Come for the art, stay for the food and drink! Or vice versa. You choose – either way you’ll have a great time!
WHY ELSE: 3Ninjas just opened – and they’re right across the alley from us! You loved them for years as a good truck at our Kendall Yards Night Market. Now you can see them all four seasons! Don’t forget that Umi Kitchen & Sushi Bar opened awhile back – to rave reviews. Tonight’s a great night to try it out. Maryhill Winery is one of our newer neighbors – 5,000 sq. ft. of wine, along with a beautiful view of the Spokane River Gorge. Great excuse to visit them. Never been to Boutique Bleu, our new women’s clothing boutique? Friday is a great day for that! Core Pilates and William Grant Gallery & Framing all host artists as well. Why not have a glass of wine at Craftsman Cellars while you check out their artist? Of course, Brainfreeze Ice Creamery, Central Food, Veraci Pizza, Wandering Table, Nectar Wine & Beer, will all be happy to see you, too!
MORE: Veraci Pizza, on the house!
MORE: Kids are always welcome.
