SUMMARY:In May the Liberty Gallery Features "Illuminated Spirit"\, Paintings by Janene Grende!
DESCRIPTION:This show centers around the flow of life in the natural world\, illuminated by the slanting light at the edges of dawn and dusk. The paintings celebrate life’s small wonders; the fleeting instance of a hummingbird\, the rushing sound of a waterfall\, the sweet smell of spring grass bending to the hooves of a new foal. \n“Native Mother Nature” is a grand centerpiece of creatures engaging in a peaceful afternoon of spirits coming together\, celebrating the simple joys of living as intended; and the painting “The Big Red Horse” honors the year of the fire horse\, a year of building for a future of powerful beginnings. \nStop by the Liberty Gallery at 203 N. Washington St during May to see Janene’s painting ~ stop by First Friday May 1st from 5-8pm to meet Janene in person!

SUMMARY:Della Mae Album Release with The Chilling Alpine Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary string band Della Mae has earned a reputation as one of the most inspiring live acts in the roots music scene. With a GRAMMY nomination and extensive touring under their belts\, the all-woman quartet releases a career-defining album titled Magic Accident. Long-time advocates for women in roots music\, Della Mae collaborated with producer and banjoist Alison Brown on this project\, their first for Nashville-based Compass Records. The result is an album that showcases a band at the peak of its abilities. \nMagic Accident draws inspiration from a wide range of roots music\, including Americana-influenced songs that echo early Chicks\, hard-driving bluegrass romps\, and dreamy indie folk-inspired tracks. Della Mae’s vocal strength\, instrumental\, and writing skills shine throughout this mostly original album. It opens with the cosmic title track\, written and sung by lead vocalist and guitarist Celia Woodsmith. The song reflects on the passage of time and self-discovery\, inspired by a letter Woodsmith wrote at 25 to her future self. “I’m just as holy as the great divide\,” Woodsmith writes. “I’m just a small piece of the great mystery. I don’t need to question any of my life.” \nBand founder and fiddler Kimber Ludiker draws from the modal Appalachian fiddle tune tradition on “Family Tree\,” co-written with the band’s guitarist Avril Smith and singer/songwriter Becky Warren. Musically\, the track delivers one of the album’s most decidedly bluegrass moments\, with Ludiker’s fiddle propelled by Brown’s banjo.\nThe Chilling Alpine Adventure (TCAA) is a cinematic pop rock band led by singer-songwriter Jessy Ribordy. Their self-titled debut album\, The Chilling Alpine Adventure\, was released on December 27\, 2024. \nRight out of high school\, Jessy launched his first band\, Falling Up\, which was signed to Tooth & Nail Records—kickstarting his career as a singer and songwriter. The band went on to sell over 250\,000 albums\, earn nine number-one singles\, and tour worldwide. \nIn addition to his work as a performer\, Jessy also composes music for film and television. On this special night\, The Chilling Alpine Adventure will join Della Mae for a rare acoustic performance.

SUMMARY:Spring Clean Week
DESCRIPTION:Just in time for Bloomsday and Lilac Festival celebrations\, downtown Spokane is getting a fresh look\, and the community is rolling up its sleeves to make it happen. Spring Clean Week 2026 kicks off Monday\, April 27 through Friday\, May 1.\nSpring Clean Week invites volunteers to spend their lunch hours giving back to the city center alongside the Downtown Spokane Clean Team\, the DSP’s dedicated crew who work 365 days a year to keep downtown clean\, green\, and welcoming. From litter pickup to prepping flower planters\, volunteers will help get downtown photo-ready for the thousands of springtime visitors who come for Spokane’s signature May events. \n“The Downtown Clean Team are the heart and hustle behind our streets\,” said Emilie Cameron\, President & CEO of the Downtown Spokane Partnership. “Spring Clean Week is a chance to amplify their efforts and bring the community together to care for our shared public spaces.” \nSpring Clean Week includes daily beautification projects including litter pickup\, sidewalk sweeping\, planter prep\, and graffiti removal. Efforts will focus on areas not part of the Clean Team’s standard routes such as alleyways\, parking lots\, gutters\, and tree wells. \nThanks to support from the City of Spokane Waste Department\, which is supplying cleaning gear\, and to Downtown Spokane Grocery Outlet\, providing snacks and drinks to keep volunteers energized throughout the week. \nIt’s not too late to sign up to volunteer! Visit www.downtownspokane.org to get involved. \nFor those unable to attend in person\, follow @downtownspokane on social media for daily clean-up inspiration\, or sponsor a downtown planter for just $50—a tax-deductible way to help Spokane bloom. \nWeek Details:\n\nWhat: Spring Clean Week 2026\nWhen: April 27 –30\, 2026\, 11:00am – 1:00pm\nWhere: Downtown Spokane (Volunteer HQ at 818 W Riverside Ave)\nWho: Downtown Spokane Partnership\, the Clean Team\, volunteers\, and YOU\n\nVolunteer Today
