SUMMARY:April Robinson is the PPP Guest Artist for July!

SUMMARY:Bab Geuleus: 1. Rice Bowl 2. Means of Living
DESCRIPTION:SHOW STATEMENT:\nThe word rice bowl in Korean (“bab geuleus”) functions as both a specific object and a figure of speech for livelihood\, and survival. In my work\, the bowl becomes a stand-in for what cultural memory is carried\, emptied\, and carefully protected in diasporic life. Meticulous craft disguises an understated humor that examines the tensions between preservation\, translation\, and disappearance. \n ARTIST STATEMENT:\nCommonplace objects embody a philosophy and culture that construct our lives. I recreate objects found from old family photographs as delicate paper sculptures. As I look through the photos\, I pick out common objects that those in the scene would have had the most interaction with. My making process is intentionally repetitive and careful. This meticulous labor elevates the handmade objects through the time and care spent producing it. The limiting characteristics of paper emphasize the replicated-ness of the realized object and I am interested in this preservation that deconstructs the original. I find the accessibility and fragility of paper very poetic. The handcrafted sculptures are a ritual of labor and time meant to carry the viewer beyond the immediate object to a thoughtful connecting point. These works are not about the objects\, but rather the time of the objects. Recreating these objects is a study of my family that I have always felt disconnected from\, but cherish. The ghostly visual of the sculptures produces a sense of preservation and loss. These sculptures are an exercise for locating my Korean American perspective. As I make the work\, I project myself into experiences I was not always present for. These objects are identifiably hand activated because I want the viewer to be able to recognize that action and insert themselves into an imagined scene with the work\, participating in my attempt to connect. \nThis show will be at Terrain gallery August 8th – August 29th\nGallery Hours: Thursday-Saturday | 4PM – 7PM

DESCRIPTION:This August\, D2 Gallery & Studio is proud to present “Targets”\, a thought provoking installation of mixed-media artwork by Michael Dinning. As part of the exhibit\, D2 will also feature a video installation by Iranian artist Ghazal Abassi\, as a preview for her solo exhibit of photography this December\, 2026. D2 Gallery will be closed for the first week of August\, so will be presenting the opening for Targets on August 14th\, from 5 to 8. This exhibit will run from August 14th to August 29th.

SUMMARY:Shinedown - Dance\, Kid\, Dance Act II
DESCRIPTION:Multi-platinum\, chart-topping band Shinedown is bringing their tour Dance\, Kid\, Dance Act II to Spokane on Friday\, August 14 at Numerica Veterans Arena. With special guests Coheed and Cambria\, From Ashes to New\, and DJ Rockfeed. \nShinedown continues to demonstrate that they are one of the most forward-thinking powerhouses in music\, forever pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a modern-day rock band. The tour not only kicks off a new era for Shinedown but continues to celebrate the momentous acclaim the band received from their juggernaut song “A Symptom of Being Human” off their 7th studio album Planet Zero (Atlantic Records). The song\, which has reached over 100 million streams and counting\, crossed over not only to Alternative but Top 40 radio and resonated with fans across the globe for the unifying message of its lyrics: that it is our human connections that matter the most.
