SUMMARY:This Sept the Liberty Gallery Presents “WATER – From One drop to an Ocean & Everything In Between”
DESCRIPTION:In the month of September the members of River Ridge Association of Fine Art (RRAFA) explore the theme of Water. To an artist water is fascinating and can be difficult to paint. The artists in the show have used many ideas\, different medium and sizes\, traditional styles to abstract\, up close or far away for viewers to contemplate. Whatever emotion the art evokes\, wistful\, happy\, contemplative and more\, this is a show you will enjoy! \nAnd don’t forget to come by the Historic Liberty Building on First Friday Sept 4 from 5-8 pm to meet the artists in person!

SUMMARY:PPP Welcomes Barbara Anderson & Patty Driscoll in Sept as Guest Artists!
DESCRIPTION:Barbara Anderson & Patty Driscoll both work in soft pastels and often choose similar subject matter for their pieces. Friends for close to thirty years\, creative souls and art lovers\, they decided to embark on a creative journey after raising their families. Their very first pastel class was at a local art school\, and they were the only adults in the class. But they were hooked! They traveled and learned together with many professional artists which put them on the right track. In 2024\, they were thrilled to have been offered a sixth month residency at the Hive\, where sharing a studio allowed the experimentation\, collaboration and creation of this body of work. \nStop by Pottery Place Plus in the Historic Liberty Building this Sept to see their work ~ come by on First Friday Sept 4th from 5-8pm to meet them in person!

SUMMARY:THE WAY I SEE IT\, Photographic works by Erik Sohner
DESCRIPTION:The work presented in this show consists of primarily still life and constructed reality imagery. My hope is that these images evoke both an emotional response and intellectual connection on some level\, while leaving room for the viewer to explore personal narrative and find their own individual meaning or interpretation. My process generally consists of some style of light painting in capture and composite in post. I use light as my paintbrush and the computer as a canvas to construct and manipulate what I physically see into what I see in my mind’s eye; to explore without boundaries. \nOpen during store hours

SUMMARY:Understanding Climate Migration in the Local Context
DESCRIPTION:This session will provide an overview of climate-induced migration in the US context\, with particular attention to the impacts on and opportunities for local communities. A simple framework will be presented to help guide the conversation and help attendees better understand why it is important for small towns and large cities alike to consider how they might integrate preparedness activities into their comprehensive plans\, climate action or adaptation plans\, and other guiding documents. Some of the questions to consider during this session: Will climate change bring newcomers to my community and who might arrive? How can my community build capacity to respond? What welcoming infrastructure do communities need to think about to prepare for newcomers? How does welcoming advance or affect resilience and sustainability? What next steps can interested practitioners and local leaders take to advance the local conversation? We’ll leave plenty of time for questions and discussion.

SUMMARY:How to Cook the Perfect Steak with Chef Robert Hale
DESCRIPTION:Cooking the Perfect Restaurant Steak\nThere is nothing quite like cutting into a perfectly cooked steak at your favorite restaurant. The great news? You don’t need a commercial kitchen to create that same experience at home.\nJoin me for an interactive class where I’ll share the techniques\, tips\, and little details that professional chefs use every day to consistently cook restaurant-quality steaks. We’ll cover everything from selecting the right cut of beef and proper seasoning to pan selection\, cooking temperatures\, resting\, slicing\, and finishing techniques that make all the difference.\nAlong the way\, we’ll talk about the tools that elevate your cooking\, answer your questions\, and\, most importantly\, have some fun in the kitchen together. Whether you’re cooking your first steak or looking to refine your technique\, you’ll leave with practical skills and the confidence to recreate an unforgettable steak dinner at home.\nBecause great hospitality doesn’t begin when the food hits the table—it begins with the care\, passion\, and relationships we build around it.

SUMMARY:Found in Translation at Terrain Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Found in Translation\, a show by Elizabeth Lancaster at Terrain Gallery. This show is Elizabeth’s way of processing connections to her father and his family’s immigration experience. These images are inspired by stories told by her father\, memories of he and his family\, and their life as emigrants from Mexico. The body of work is born from questions that surround her own story – what it means to hold ties to so much culture and history and yet only know her heritage through what is translated by her family. Using watercolor\, Elizabeth learned to weave in her own visual perspective\, adding bold hues and patterns to juxtapose her father’s black and white stories of poverty\, hardship\, commitment to family\, and faith. This series of watercolors are both joyful and somber\, colorful and achromatic. Just the way the images of his stories and her heritage play out in her head. \nOn View: September 4th – September 26th\nOpening Reception: September 4th 5PM-8PM\nTerrain Gallery Hours: Thursday-Saturday 4PM-7PM
