About This Place

Blueprints for Learning is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization working to increase the quality of child care and early learning in the Spokane community.

Blueprints for Learning was established in 2002 when Community and Saranac Building redeveloper Jim Sheehan collaborated with Lynne Sanders to create an on-site child care facility to serve the families working in the Community and Saranac buildings. In addition to the Community Building Children’s Center, Lynne simultaneously established the Child Care Training Institute.

The Community Building Children’s Center offers full-day, year round early care and education for children ages 12 months through 5 years. Staff are passionate, experienced, and well-educated child care teachers who provide exceptional teaching and an environment where children are encouraged to thrive and grow through their early learning experience.

While many of our services are fee-based, we also rely on grants, sponsors, and our annual fundraiser, The Great Spokane Art Party , to support our efforts to improve child care, early learning, and child care education for the greater Spokane area.

More than ever, there is a need for high-quality affordable childcare services in the Spokane area. Prior to 2020 there was an inadequate supply of childcare services. In the last year, the supply has been further devastated and families have fewer choices for available care. Childcare Industry Assessment Fact Sheet
