Spokane Print & Publishing Center Present the 7th Spokane Print Fest
A Celebration of Printmaking
SPOKANE, WASH. — Spokane Print & Publishing Center is excited to announce the 8th Spokane Print Fest—celebrating the world of printmaking. The event will run April 3rd-April 18th. in different locations around the city. This unique community event aims to educate, inspire, and bring together printmaking enthusiasts of all ages, offering gallery exhibits, exciting mix of live demos, print fair and workshop with your favorite local printmaker.
Event Highlights:
• Print Fest Fair @ the Hive: (2-7pm) + Documentary Screening / Q&A : Come buy prints and experience a variety of printmaking techniques firsthand on live demos, including stamping, intaglio, carving, live poster printing, and even silk-screening from local makers and local institutions then stay for the screening of IMPRESIONES DE RESISTENCIA + Q+A, a documentary directed by Reinaldo Gil Zambrano exploring the history of printmaking in Puerto Rico as a tool to resist the realities of a contemporary colony.
• Gallery Exhibit:
o Liberty Gallery: “Radical Joy” curated by Amiee Clark featuring print work by SPPC members. Enjoy the work of SPPC members and their interpretations on the different forms that joy can take in the current challenging times. Opening reception April 3th 4-7pm. On view for the month of April. o Spark Central presents: “BIOTA” a series of reduction block prints by Madeline Goolie on view at Spark Central (1206 W Summit Parkway) adjacent gallery. Opening April 3th, 4pm. On view for the month of April
• Spokane Print & Publishing Center Open House + Lecture Spokane Sequential Director Mike : Sunday April 5th noon-3pm
o Your beloved non-profit printmaking studio Spokane Print & Publishing Center will be celebrating their 8th year open offering specialized equipment, instructions and a welcoming vibe with an open house. Plus, director Mike will be presenting about the popular local comic publication Spokane Sequential. Come by check out the space and eat cake!
Workshops at Spokane Print & Publishing Center: As part of the Spokane Print Fest, local Legend Mary Farrell and Kevin Haas will be offering her annual print workshop Saturday in April 18th, and April 11th pertinently from 10 AM to 1 PM. These hands-on classes are designed to introduce participants into a specialize view of monotype/dry point from one the most beloved local printmakers. No previous experience required. All Materials included.
