We are super excited to bring you the art of Angel Luna!
WHO: Angel Luna, EWU Alum, Sculptor, Mentee of Professor Emeritus Ruben Trejo.
WHAT: Angel is returning to Spokane to share his ceramics and sculpture.
INFO ON THE SPACE: Marmot Art Space has won Best Gallery repeatedly in the local contests. It’s widely regarded as one of the most important galleries in the Inland Northwest. Many of our artists have art in important collections like the Smithsonian and have won numerous awards. They have books written about them.
INFO ON THE ARTIST: Angel teaches art in Mesa, Arizona. He’ll be bringing up sculptures from his Farmworkers Series as well as smaller, affordable ceramic pieces. “I am writing my story and history from growing up in a family of farm laborers and clay is the closest medium to working with la tierra (earth) like preparing fields for harvest. My pottery is an exploration and play on surface and form that translates/bridges dos mundos of sculpture and craft together as one. Each piece I create I try to learn from to give me the experience for the next. Fire is the harshest critic and creative partner in finishing with this material that I love.” – Angel Luna
