Stage Left Theater ends its 2018-2019 season with BARE: A Pop Opera, bringing the show to Spokane audiences for the first time. Opening with a sold-out show on May 24, and running through June 16, 2019, this contemporary rock opera follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they face issues relevant still to today’s students.
BARE’s popularity and power stems from its honesty, resonating with audiences as it provides truthful accounts of the common complexities of teenage life. Finding one’s identity, dealing with self-doubt, gaining a sense of belonging while navigating obstacles like sex, bullying, religion, stereotypes, and the pressures to live up to parents’ and society’s expectations, all find focus in this powerful theatrical experience.
With heart-pounding lyrics and a cast of bright young characters, BARE: A Pop Opera is a gripping breath of discovery, passion, reconciliation and love.
