On July 1st, Terrain kicks off “Express Yourself: A Call to Action Through Art,” a monthlong project to provide space for black artists to express themselves in its Cracker Building gallery. Each day of July, a local black artist will get 12 to 24 hours in the Terrain gallery to make and interpret art. Live glimpses of their work will be broadcast daily from 7-8 PM on Terrain’s Facebook and Instagram channels. Over the month viewers will watch the gallery slowly fill with a mural of visual and literary art across all the walls, punctuated by dance, music, and other expressions. At the end of the month, on July 31, multiple artists will come together for a culminating show.
Carl Richardson, local artist, art instructor, and Terrain board member will kick off the event by creating a visual piece for the gallery on July 1.
