San Francisco-born artist, PETER HARDIE, began his renowned career as the Resident Designer and Technical Director at Spokane Civic Theatre in 1981. Prior to moving to Spokane, Peter studied at California State University at Sacramento (BA in Theatre Arts) and University of Washington (MA in Theatre Design), and worked at ACT Theatre Seattle, Pacific NW Theatre Associates, Carrol College and, as the Resident Designer/Technical Director, Grand Street Theater in Helena, MT. Peter received the City of Spokane Arts Award in 2007 and, in 2013, received a Spokane Civic Theatre Lifetime Achievement Award and, at American Association of Community Theatre’s Region IX festival, was awarded Best Scenic and Lighting Design. After 32 years and more than 350 set designs/builds, Peter retired from Civic in 2013.
