How many local artists do you know that have books out about them? Four of our artists at Marmot Art Space – Alfredo Arreguín, Patti Warashina, Ruben Trejo, and Ric Gendron all have had books written about them, but it’s actually quite rare.
Out of the thousands upon thousands of people in our region who put paint onto various surfaces, very, very, very few have had books produced about them.
Frank Munns is one of those very, very, very few artists who have had a book produced about them. And this one happened after he passed away.
Daniel Forbes, longtime director of the Sheehan Gallery at Whitman College (now ex director and current art professor at Whitman College and Walla Walla Community College) just finished producing such a book.
Daniel knew Frank well and was inspired by his huge achievements over the years, so much so that he chose to spend a few years working on a book about Frank. He wanted to ensure that, even though Frank had already passed on, those who were still living could find out more about him.
This book, like Frank’s art, will exist long after we’re gone as well, of course.
Daniel is a great guy and you’re gonna love meeting him. He knows a ton about Frank (he literally wrote the book on him). You’re also going to love getting to know Frank through his art and through this new book. We are so excited to share this with you this First Friday at Marmot Art Space. Doors open at 5 PM!
