A show at the Liberty Gallery in Oct titled “Mask” brings to mind Halloween fun, Italian masquerade, and Mardi Gras, which are all part of this show. However, masks also serve other purposes that the artists explore; whether for protection, to deceive, or for concealment. Finally, some artists have created abstract art pieces that hide the images and meaning in their art, requiring the viewer to bring their own interpretation to the piece. The artists visually explore the “Mask” theme in mediums ranging from papier-mache to colored pencils; watercolor to mixed media.
