About This Event

Every year the American Physical Society – Division of Plasma Physics (APS-DPP) hosts plasma science education events completely free of charge. This year we will be visiting Spokane, WA!

The general public is welcome to join us October 20, 6:00 – 8:00pm to participate in hands-on plasma and physic demonstrations, learn how plasma is part of their daily lives all while interacting with local, national and international scientists!

Registration is not required.


Plasma Science Student Expo where students will have their own chance to explore plasma science demos and activities, meet scientists and researchers from world-renowned institutions, and participate in hands-on demonstration. Open for middle and high school groups on October 20, 2022.

Plasma Science Teacher Day will be held in Spokane on Tuesday October 18, 2022. It is a full day of free professional development workshops for middle school and high school teachers to learn about plasma physics research and ways to incorporate plasma lessons and activities in the classroom. The workshop presentations, handouts, and classroom resource materials are designed to satisfy state and national standards.
