The Spokane Symphony is having a series of free “Out & About Concerts” by small ensembles of musicians that will take place in different neighborhoods around Spokane. They will be held in cafes, restaurants and community centers. They all take place in late afternoon/early evening on weekdays, to provide an opportunity for something fun to do after work or a way to enjoy a relaxing evening after a long day. Each concert is about 45 minutes of light classical music by ensembles of two to five musicians who will introduce the music and share insight into its history. It’s a great way to experience live classical music for people who are curious to give it a try. “It’s an espresso shot of the classics!” says Music Director James Lowe. No reservations required. The 5/20 concert at 5 pm is at Slightly Charred Wood Fired Pizza; the 5/27 concert is at The Carl Maxey Center at 6:30 pm.
