SUMMARY:SOUTHWEST NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIST GREYSHOES
DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Museum of Indian Art calls our October Featured Artist a “Living Treasure”. \nWe could not be more thrilled than to present you with the of multiple award winning Southwest Native American sculptor Greyshoes! \nMark your calendar for JUNE 5th when you can meet Greyshoes in person! And see more of his art! \nGreyshoes sculpts contemporary\, stylized\, and flowing forms inspired by the aesthetic motifs and movements found in the ceremonial regalia and dances of his Native American heritage. \nDuring his nearly three-decade career\, Greyshoes’s subject matter has included Apache crown dancers; Pueblo corn\, deer\, elk\, antelope\, and buffalo dancers; and even the pan-American Matachines. He is also known for his “essentialized” medicine bears and a variety of other sacred animal representations. \nGreyshoes works exclusively in stone\, including exotic and domestic marble\, limestone\, alabaster\, and onyx. A selection of one-of-a-kind stone originals are then chosen to be cast in bronze in limited editions. These bronzes feature patinas in a range of colors\, patterns\, and textures. \nCome meet Greyshoes in person on June First Friday – June 5th – 5-8pm and he’ll tell you all about it and you can choose your favorite souvenir of the night to take home with you. Don’t have stacks of cash in your pocket? No worries\, we do layaway. \nWe’ll also have our regular all star lineup – pieces from Smithsonian Visionary Artist Award Winner Patti Warashina\, Legendary Painter Alfredo Arreguin\, Professors Emeriti Ruben Trejo\, Keiko Hara\, and Gordon Wilson\, Professors Frank Munns and Rob McKirdie\, award-winning Bend Artists Sarah B Hansen and Shelli Walters\, Gabe Fernandez\, our favorite Montana-based painter Kelly Packer\, and renowned sculptor Haiying Wu.
