River Park Square is hosting its Back to School Celebration Saturday, August 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering an afternoon of free family fun as the community looks ahead to the new school year.

Activities will include balloon art, face painting, LUSH bath bomb pressing, a POP Balloon Bar photo booth, live DJ music, prizes, giveaways and more.

The celebration also provides an opportunity to support local students through Tools 2 Schools, a partnership between Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington, KREM 2 News and Office Depot. River Park Square is a collection site for the program, which helps provide school supplies and other essentials to local students.

New backpacks, school supplies and personal care items will be collected at Saturday’s celebration and throughout the month of August.

Families are invited to enjoy the celebration, bring a donation if they are able and help local students start the school year prepared.
