Experience live art in real time at First Friday Face-Off, a monthly showdown celebrating Spokane’s local talent. Bringing together featured artists who transform blank canvases into finished masterpieces right before your eyes during a two-hour, high-energy experience.
Featuring, live art battles, Food and beverage, vendors, community engagement and interactive activities.
At the end of the night, one artist is selected as the monthly winner by the attendees— and their artwork becomes the official promotional poster for the following month’s First Friday. Monthly winners advance to a year-end championship during our holiday Brushes & Boughs celebration, where one artist will be crowned First Friday Artist of the Year.
Come for the creativity, stay for the vibe, and be part of an experience that brings Spokane’s art scene to life — one First Friday at a time.
This June – in honor of Pride, three Artists will be battling:
- Pearl Sakaske | I make acrylic and water mixable oil paintings. I explore abstracts with subjectivity of mental health. My art connects with most people and makes a statement on how I live.
- Jordan De Leon | I am a Spokane local that cares deeply about art. I have been painting since youth but have focused my efforts more recently and have started showing pieces at galleries in the area. I would love to be a part of Spokane’s art scene more often and am inspired by face off.
- Jansen Niccals | Jansen is a disabled man creating mythical art since he could hold a pencil. Being autistic makes colors and imagination swirl together when art flows. Since losing his left leg, Jansen has had to relearn his painting and drawing process all over again. But still he preserved.
The First Friday Face Off is supported through grant dollars provided by the City of Spokane’s Tourism and Cultural Investment Grant, which invests in new events that encourage tourism and enrich the cultural environment of Spokane.
