Spokane’s First Friday returns on May 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, bringing together a mix of local art, music, and creativity throughout downtown. Adding to the festivities, Wheatland Bank Free Horse and Carriage Rides are back in Riverfront Park, offering an added experience to a night out in downtown.
Art highlights include a student exhibit at Avenue West Gallery, showcasing works by Saint George’s International Baccalaureate Visual Arts students with live music by Jonathan Nicholson. Marmot Art Space honors Inland Northwest legend Ruben Trejo, featuring pieces never before shown in Spokane. Trackside Studio presents Darya J. Pilram’s ceramic works repaired with the Japanese art of Kintsugi, celebrating resilience and imperfection.
Chase Gallery hosts a portraiture exhibit by four young women artists exploring identity and self-perception, accompanied by music from DJ Spicy Ketchup. At Terrain Gallery, artists Sarah Barnett, Joe Hedges, and Reza Safavi explore the evolving relationship between humans and technology through media and installation.
At New Moon Art Gallery, “Stories That Might Be True” features playful, imaginative works by Kim Long and Collista Krebs. D2 Gallery showcases James Dhillon’s expressive and immersive series “Past Is Present,” while Uptic Studios presents Anna Boswell Abel’s “Profusity,” an abstract and poignant commentary on consumerism and sustainability.

About First Friday: First Friday Spokane launched in November of 2003 in partnership between the Downtown Spokane Partnership and Spokane Arts Commission. Today, venues across downtown participate each month to bring visitors to our city center and promote arts patronage in our region for the opportunity to see if first, hear it first, and find it first.
