For more than a decade, the Downtown Spokane Partnership and Spokane Arts, alongside local artists, property owners and community partners, have brought color, creativity and stories to downtown through murals and public art. Today, these works transform walls and overlooked spaces into vibrant destinations that celebrate Spokane’s history, culture and community.

1: Wild Willy

2: Drey Davis Memorial Mural

About
Honoring Drey Davis and the communities he served. Completed in July 2026 in celebration of what would have been Davis’s 32nd birthday. Located on a donated wall at a site closely tied to Spokane’s music community and Davis’s performance history. SAGA funding will support artist compensation and materials, while additional support—including donated paint, fundraising efforts, and in-kind contributions—demonstrates strong grassroots backing.

4: Trent Alley Mural

Inspired by Japanese icons and textiles. This mural was commissioned to honor the history of Spokane’s historic international district, a once thriving center of commerce for Asian immigrants who made their home in Spokane.
5: Swimming

In 2021, Ander was hired by Spokane Arts to teach and facilitate a weekend Mini Mural Workshop for first time muralists. The start of the Post Street Mural Alley was born. Murals were painted by artists: Acennan Morgan, Chelsea Hendrickson, Frankie Benka, Kayleigh Lang, Nicole Hague, and Rowan Hoerner.
In 2025, Ander was given the opportunity to add 5 more murals to the Post Street alley, including their own work. They invited friends and co-conspirators from a recently formed art collective: Party of 6. All talented artists and muralists in their own right, Party of Six is made up of Rose Honey, Erin Lang, Hannah Bottino, Karli Fairbanks, Toby Keough, and Tif Ander Patterson.

A partnership between DSP and Spokane Arts using ARPA funding set aside for alleyway activation made the dream of having this large mural a reality. This mural pays homage to what makes our city beautiful.

15: Freedom to Vote

Painted to celebrate the passage of the Voting Rights Restoration Bill, which restored voting rights to about 26,000 people with past convictions across the state in 2022. Restoring the rights of people with past convictions is an important step towards justice for Black and Indigenous Washingtonians, low-income Washingtonians, and others who are impacted by the legal system. The main figure in this mural is a local woman named Layne Pavey who does returning citizen work for ex felons. – https://landscouncil.org/news/free-the-vote-mural

Part of the 2024 mural rally. This mural is showing off the luxury of being a cat lounging around. It is based on my own cat, Mister, and his adorable sleeping positions. I hope people see this mural and smile at how silly it is.

The Ruby is associated with the historic Steam Plant building. The owner wanted to connect the two by referencing historic photos of the steam plant and the remaining infrastructure of the building. We researched the MAC’s (Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture) photo archives to find this image of a woman at work, added billowing clouds of steam, and framed her in heat delivering pipes. Spokane is a factory town at heart with a rich history of workers uniting for their rights. If you stand in just the right spot, you can see she is adjusting the street lamp, lighting the way for future workers.

I ultimately made this mural because it is something I needed to see in the world. There is no concrete career path when you are an artist. You have to find your own way. So many say you should be more practical. They forget that art is one of the most necessary things for well being. This mural is a reminder that creative acts in all their forms are important and worthwhile, especially all the work that goes on behind the scenes. Keep going; we need you.

This mural was the first time someone has let me do whatever I wanted on the wall. it was a very special opportunity to create permanent images that will capture places that we collectively cherish in our hearts. Places like the Shack or White Elephant will continue to live on is this alley instead of just in our memories. This is only the first phase of this project as we look forward to adding vintage neon signage for the local area as well in phase 2

For my mural I was inspired by Spokane Expo ’74 and its vision of creating a more peaceful and connected world. For my mural, I wanted to capture a sense of peace, calmness, and harmony through a simple yet meaningful design.
I chose a palette of colors inspired by the era of Expo ’74, bringing a feeling of nostalgia and reflecting the artistic style of that time. The simplicity of the design allows the shapes and lines to speak for themselves. As they flow across the mural, the lines and geometric forms gradually transform into mountains, a river, the moon, and stars—elements that are deeply connected to the natural beauty of the Spokane area.
Through these simple shapes, colors, and flowing lines, I wanted to create a quiet visual landscape that reflects both the spirit of Expo ’74 and the peaceful character of Spokane.
