The Downtown Spokane Partnership invites talented local artists to participate in our Tree Painting Contest on Saturday, November 23, 2024, during the Merry & Magical Lane Holiday Lighting Event! We’re seeking six artists to create unique, live-painted holiday trees, each paired with a local nonprofit.

How It Works

  • Live tree painting: Trees will be live painted on Saturday, November 23, and displayed starting November 24 at 818 W Riverside Ave.
  • Public Voting: Voting opens on Sunday, November 24. Visitors can vote for their favorite tree online through December 20 by scanning QR codes at each display.
  • Give Back: The winning tree will earn a $500 donation to a Spokane-based charity chosen by the artist, helping spread holiday cheer across the community!

Event Overview

  • Date: Saturday, November 23, 2024
  • Location: Downtown Spokane on Post Street between Main Ave and Riverside Ave, during the Merry & Magical Lane Lighting Event
  • Live Painting Time: 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Each selected artist will be provided a plywood tree to paint live during the event. Trees will be on display throughout the holidays, offering a festive showcase for your talent!

All materials for painting provided. In addition, the DSP provide a $75 honorarium for each participating artist.

Requirements

Theme: Merry & Magical; encourage creativity and designs that capture the holiday spirit.

Nonprofit Pairing: Each artist will select a local nonprofit organization from a list of eligible organizations to pair with. Artists are encouraged to incorporate elements that represent or celebrate the mission of their assigned nonprofit.

How to Apply

To be considered, please submit the following by 8:00pm, Wednesday, November 13, 2024:

  • A brief bio and portfolio or examples of past work.
  • A short description of your artistic style or ideas for the tree.
  • Contact information (email and phone number).
  • Applications should be sent to info@downtownspokane.org

Six artists will be selected based on creativity, experience, and community spirit. Selected artists will be notified by Friday, November 15, 2024.
