Alcohol Impact Area & Community Health Impact Area

On February 3, 2025, the City of Spokane City Council unanimously approved the DSP-supported Alcohol Impact Area & Community Health Impact Area ordinances—a crucial step forward in enhancing safety and well-being downtown. Over the next six-months, the compliance is voluntary before full enforcement initiates. During this time, the DSP will work with downtown retailers to support conformance.

The DSP also strongly supports establishing a “Stay Out of Drug Area” downtown—an initiative designed to strengthen responses to chronic drug-related offenses. These initiatives are key steps toward a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant downtown. Thank you to DSP members for voicing support for these important initiatives.
