Celebrate our city, support local, and share your Spokane pride
Spokane, WASH. (May 5, 2025)- Move over, May the 4th, there’s a new date to mark on your calendar. On Friday, May 9, the Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) and Visit Spokane invite the community to celebrate everything that makes the 5-0-9 special with the second annual 509 Day.
Designed to showcase local pride and support small businesses, 509 Day offers a citywide invitation to explore downtown Spokane with exclusive deals, giveaways, and community vibes.
“For those of us born and raised in Spokane, the 509 means a lot. And how amazing is it that 509 Day lands right in the heart of May, during Lilac season?” said Elisabeth Hooker, Vice President of Marketing and Programming for the DSP. “This day is about spotlighting what makes Spokane truly special, our people, our businesses, and our community spirit.”
More than 30 downtown businesses are participating with food and drink specials, discounts on retail and services, and unique experiences all priced in honor of the 509 area code. From $5.09 menu items and mini golf to shop discounts and giveaways, there’s something for everyone.
In addition to promotions, guests can enter to win a downtown prize package by scanning QR codes at participating businesses. Participants are invited to stop by the Visit Spokane Visitor Center in Riverfront Park between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. for free swag and t-shirts (while supplies last). Visitors are also encouraged to record a short video about what makes downtown Spokane meaningful to them.
