For June, 36 venues are participating in the monthly art walk. Most venues open from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. For a full list of activities and artists visit www.firstfridayspokane.org.

Nine locations will be participating in Spokane’s first Queer Art Walk, a celebration of the LGBTQA+ community, and this year honor the 50th anniversary of Stonewall. Spokane Queer Art Walk is partnering with local venues to catalyze a community-wide showcase of queer artists throughout Pride Month.

The featured June First Friday poster artist is Janie Edwards. Edwards has been a Studio Art Tour participant from 2013-2017 and formerly showcased at her own Galley at the Spokane Marketplace. Edwards is inspired by her garden and paints what she find’s in her own backyard. Edwards began painting in 2000 when she was gifted a set of watercolors for Christmas and won Honorable Mention at the Spokane Watercolor Society’s Show in 2017. A collectable poster of her work can be found at the Visitors Center inside Riverfront Park.

Downtown First Friday launched in November of 2003 in conjunction with the Spokane Arts Commission. Today, over 50 downtown venues participate each month to bring visitors to downtown, and promote arts patronage in our region. First Friday always occurs on the First Friday of the month with the exception of February and October, when First Friday and the Visual Arts Tour merge to become a city-wide arts tour presented by Spokane Arts.
