Six-month supplemental cleaning contract will bring daily sidewalk cleaning, graffiti removal and snow services to south downtown Spokane.

Spokane, WASH. (September 17, 2024)—  Supplemental cleaning services will soon be implemented in downtown Spokane south of the railroad viaduct.

The Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) is expanding its cleaning and maintenance services to new areas in south downtown Spokane as part of a six-month supplemental cleaning contract with the city of Spokane. Spokane City Council approved the contract during Monday night’s meeting.

Starting September 30, residents and businesses in the supplemental area will benefit from enhanced sidewalk cleaning, graffiti removal, power washing and snow clearance five days a week. The new contract will ensure cleaner and safer public spaces through February 2025.

The South Downtown Supplemental Service area is bordered by the railroad viaducts on the north, Bernard Street on the east, Walnut Street on the west and 3rd Avenue on the South. A map of the service area can be found here.

Services will include:

  • Sweeping and removal of garbage on sidewalks and in tree wells
  • Removal of illegal dumping on sidewalks and alleys
  • Abatement of graffiti facing public sidewalks*
  • Power washing and sanitizing of sidewalks
  • Monthly alley cleaning and sanitation
  • Snow removal of crosswalk ramps in major intersections

*Graffiti abatement is available on private property up to eight feet with owner permission
