Free summer concert series to begin May 19

The Downtown Spokane Business Improvement District, with River Park Square and Black Cannon Events today announced the return of summer concerts to the streets of downtown Spokane.

Live by Five happens this summer with live music in the heart of the Lilac City. The four-concert series will take place on Post Street between Main and Riverside Avenues and is presented by Idaho Central Credit Union.

Each concert kicks off at 5:00 p.m. through to 8:00 p.m. and includes the following local acts:

  • May 19 | Lucas Brown & Friends
  • June 16 | Snacks at Midnight
  • July 14 | Justyn Priest Trio
  • August 11 | Buffalo Jones

“Live After 5! was a popular concert series that we previously hosted between 2008 and 2012,” says DSP marketing & programming director Elisabeth Hooker. “We couldn’t think of a better way to say ‘hello’ to Spokane again than bringing back a beloved downtown event in an all-new new form.”

Featured at Live by Five will be the ‘Show on the Road,’ an all-in-one innovative powered mobile stage with roof, lights and sound system constructed by Levi Steverding of Black Cannon Events. “The idea is to bring concerts to any area by simply pulling up, putting down supports and plugging in the speakers,” says Steverding. “Putting together a live pop-up concert has never been easier. All the power is self-contained with an ultra-quiet generator so concerts can happen anytime, anywhere.”

The concert series is made possible by the support of Idaho Central Credit Union. Established in 1940, Idaho Central Credit Union is one of the fastest growing credit unions in Idaho and recently opened their first Washington State branch in downtown Spokane at 41 W Riverside.

In addition to live music, the event will also host local food trucks and vendors, a beer garden and provide family friendly games. The public is invited to bring a chair, or grab one provided, for an evening out in beautiful downtown Spokane.

Post Street will be shut-down to traffic Thursday, May 19 at 4:00 p.m., all parked vehicles must be moved from on-street parking by 3:30pm.
