Join us in downtown Spokane for First Friday. This month 30 venues are participating in the monthly art walk. Most venues open from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. For a full list of activities and artists visit www.firstfridayspokane.org.

Exhibitions of note include A Pop of Wonder at the newly redeveloped Wonder Building, featuring work from Coeur d’Alene’s, Art Sprit Gallery and Fitting Together.Art, a nonprofit that empowers children through art, at Josefine’s Salon Concepts in east downtown.

The featured May First Friday poster artist is Holly Schmehl, a watercolor and modern calligraphy artist of two years. She started creating to relieve stress and anxiety as an unexpected stay at home mom. It turned out to be one of the best life experiences, allowing her to find art again. She focuses on creating custom keepsakes that will last a lifetime. A limited number of prints of Schmehl’s piece Lilac City, part of the HollyPaintsThings series, will be available for pick up inside Riverfront Park at the Spokane Visitor’s Center.

About First Friday

Downtown First Friday launched in November of 2003 in conjunction with the Spokane Arts Commission. Today, over 50 downtown venues participate each month to bring visitors to downtown, and promote arts patronage in our region. First Friday always occurs on the First Friday of the month with the exception of February and October, when First Friday and the Visual Arts Tour merge to become a city-wide arts tour presented by Spokane Arts.
