Julie Connolly – owner and stylist at downtown Spokane’s newest hair and beauty salon, The Jewel Box Salon – believes inner beauty is the most precious part of you. “We focus on bringing out the beauty from within,” says Connolly. “We create a very relaxing, calming, comfortable space for people, which allows customers to find styles and looks that work for the individual.”
Connolly chose downtown to open her new hair and beauty salon because “she was drawn to the convenience of being centrally located alongside the diversity, color, and movement in the heart of the city.” Located at 827 W 1st Avenue, Connolly loves the big windows and natural light the location offers. The space also comes with four free parking spaces, which is a rare find in the downtown district. Inside may not look like your typical hair and beauty salon, “I like to keep it very minimal so people can relax and focus on their own style,” says Connolly.
The Jewel Box Salon is more than just a place to go for a quick cut, it is a gem experience, according to the owner. “The experience is more than just getting your hair done,” says Connolly. “It is about bringing out the inner, not just the outer beauty. Customers should leave feeling rejuvenated and energized.” Connolly firmly believes that everyone has something special inside and that The Jewel Box Salon is unique in the salon industry for the time they take getting to know what truly makes their customers feel beautiful. Connolly loves to spend time and with her clients and work out the kinks of life, which makes the experience much more than just getting a haircut.
Connolly is an expert in both hair and makeup, with over 17-years of experience working all over the United States and in Canada. She trained in Chicago and has retrofitted an Airstream trailer into a mobile hair salon called the “Hair Stream” and plans to introduce services to Spokane within the next year. The Hair Stream – a one chair salon with seating area – will be fully prepared for hair and makeup and can be used for offsite events and weddings.
