As the holiday season rolls on, the Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) continues to host a variety of activities and promotions to encourage everyone to experience the magic of downtown Spokane. Three of those promotions concluded this past weekend, and the DSP has announced their big winners.
“We love the community that the DSP brings to Spokane and the support they provide for local creatives and businesses,” said Jessica Atkinson, owner of Sweet Frostings Blissful Bakeshop. “We love the city and all downtown has to offer especially during the holidays with the window displays, lights, and local goodies that you can’t find anywhere else! Spokane truly captures the holiday spirit.”
Holiday Window Display Contest presented by STCU
The Davenport Grand weren’t the only windows decked out for the holidays this year, as the Holiday Window Display Contest presented by STCU swept downtown. Over a dozen businesses created fun and festive artwork and displays in the street-facing windows of their businesses. Downtown visitors were encouraged to venture to as many as they could and vote for their favorites. Nearly 500 votes poured in from the public over the three weeks the contest was open.
Winners:
- First Avenue Coffee – 2022 People’s Choice
- Sweet Frostings – 2022 STCU Choice
- Garland Resale – 2022 Downtown Choice
“I love that we are able to partner and support local artists and Downtown Spokane in creating a fun, new and exciting environment for both everyday clientele and those first-time customers, as well,” said Jake Fassbinder, manager of First Ave Coffee. “We love connecting with the Spokane community and this was the perfect fit for just that.”

Kids Scavenger Hunt presented by STCU
Another favorite holiday tradition for families in downtown Spokane, the STCU Kids Scavenger Hunt returned this year. Kids used a passport look for hidden figures at 25 downtown businesses with secret codes on them. Once ten figures were found, they turned in their passport for a chance to win a family pack prize drawing. Three winners were selected at random from among the completed passports.
Winners:
- Albert – Age 2
- Zoe – Age 7
- Ben – Age 10
Kids Coloring Contest presented by STCU
In addition to the popular annual Kids Scavenger Hunt throughout downtown, this year kids were also invited to complete a coloring sheet based off of a vintage 1973 Crescent Department Store coloring book. Winners were selected in three age groups and won $100 gift cards. Over 40 submissions were entered into the contest.
Winners:
- Ellie Johnson – 2022 Ages Four to Seven Category
- James Douville – 2022 Ages Eight to Eleven Category
- Cloie Isley – 2022 Ages Twelve to Fifteen Category
“I had a blast crafting and coloring this piece of paper,” said Cloie Isley, one of the contest participants. “I think it’s amazing to see our community come together.”
Winning submissions will be on display in the lobby of the Davenport Grand hotel through January 1, 2023.
The fun hasn’t ended yet in downtown Spokane, with plenty to still do and see before the New Year. Santa’s Pub Hop and Holiday Wine Walk continues now through December 31. Downtown visitors patronize local breweries and tasting rooms they can collect digital “stamps” on a stamp card via mobile app. Once they earn five stamps they can show proof of completion to receive a fun prize. QR codes to download the app and participate will be available at all participating businesses, along with a list of participating tasting rooms at downtownspokane.org.
The DSP is also putting a spotlight on a different downtown business each day and highlighting a special deal or promotion with the “12 Days of Downtown Deals.” Every day through Dec. 23, a different business is highlighted on the DSP Facebook page (@downtownspokane). Each post features a deal or promotion by the business, as well as a trivia question that gives the public a chance to win a $50 gift card to that business for answering correctly.
