Downtown Spokane Partnership joined hundreds of petitioners across the nation in successfully appealing to the US Supreme Court to take up the follow-on case to Martin v. City of Boise, City of Grants Pass v. Johnson.

On June 28, 2024 the Court ruled in a 6-3 vote that cities do in fact have the authority to regulate activities on public spaces, whether there is space in emergency shelters sufficient to accommodate all unhoused individuals in a given community.
