The downtown Business Improvement District and the Spokane Police Department (SPD) remind property and business owners to report all crimes to the SPD. Documenting criminal activity helps identify trends and timelines which aids law enforcement in identifying and detaining serial offenders.

If you witness any crime or emergency in progress or that has just occurred, call 9-1-1 immediately. If you witness any non-emergency criminal activity, call the Crime Check Hotline at 509.456.2233, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Or, submit an online crime report at SpokanePolice.org/CrimeCheck.

If you observe criminal activity after-the-fact, report it to Crime Check. Simply registering criminal activity with Crime Check helps Police develop long-term plans for allocating limited resources where needed most.

Documenting trends in crime have led to arrests as noted in the press release below from the SPD.

Male arrested for multiple felony vandalism charges in the Downtown Spokane area which included damaging two police vehicles.

On 8/31/2019, at about 11pm, Spokane Police Officers had their police vehicles parked at a Downtown area COP Shop. When they came outside they found two of the police vehicles had their front windshields broken out by rocks. A while later around 2:44am, the Knitting Factory had their glass door shattered by a rock.

Officers were able to identify the male who broke the window as Bobby Risenhooven (age 51). Officers reviewed security footage from the Cop Shop and were also able to identify Risenhooven as the male who broke the police vehicle windows. Based on the identification of Risenhooven, probable cause was developed to arrest him for two counts of Malicious Mischief 1st Degree for physically damaging an emergency vehicle and one count of Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree for the damage to the Knitting factory glass door.

In the afternoon of 9/3/2019, Cheney Police Officers found Risenhooven and arrested him.
