Bike Everywhere Month encourages biking for transportation, as well as recreation.

The annual event sponsors a mixture of social activities, bike rides and educational opportunities during May. Many focus on the downtown area. Event organizers would like to make cyclists aware of the special advantages of cycling to downtown: no parking costs; bike racks and a bike lane network; slower car traffic leading to greater cyclist safety.

In addition to encouraging employees to commit to a two wheeled commute, organizers are asking downtown businesses to participate by offering a discount to customers who arrive by bike in May.

Participating businesses would receive a poster advertising the discount. The Bike Everywhere website and Facebook page will push the program and participating businesses. Several hundred cyclists attend social events where the program will be mentioned.
